Howlingwolf bit down a twinge of disappointment. What had he expected? No cat ever saw through his facade. He shouldn't have expected Mistfall to even try. The tom stalked over to the fresh-kill pile and put down his prey, choosing for himself a small mouse that he knew would never fill his belly. But he would leave the bigger prey for the weaker in the Clan, who needed it. The tom stalked over to his favorite place to eat and slumped down, digging his teeth into his prey and grumbling as he ate. Why should he care about anything? Apathy came naturally to him, and it wasn't as if he had any reason to want friends. The tom glared into space as he chewed, obviously upset but pretty much unwilling to talk about it.

Mistfall watched as Howlingwolf sat down. He seemed well… disappointed. Did I make him feel that way? she wondered. She picked up the test of the vole and carried it over to him, trotting to make the trip faster. She sat down a few braces away, her tail sweeping the ground.
Mind if I sit with you? she asked, curling her tail.

Howlingwolf glanced up, surprised. He blinked and then shrugged, gesturing with his tail for her to take a seat. He couldn't deny that he hadn't expected her to come back. He'd basically, in her mind, blown off her friendship. Or had he? Had she understood the double meaning behind his words? He could only assume so. Howlingwolf looked down at his prey and chewed nervously, trying to look like he didn't care.

Mistfall smiled and payed down beside him, chewing her fresh-kill thoughtfully. You never really answered my question. You said you have no friends, so I thought that meant a no. And by the way, I'm sorry. she mewed, her tail flicking. She finished her vole and pushed the bones aside, waiting for his reply.

Howlingwolf stared at his paws and then sighed.
"I don't really care about friendship or anything like that. It's all a lot more complicated than it should be. So cats say I don't have any friends. And I guess that's true. But that doesn't mean I don't want friends. Or consider cats friends... of a sort, I guess." He shrugged slightly.

Mistfall chuckled. Its a simple question. she laughed, flicking him lightly with her tail. So yes, or no? she asked softly, letting her railway, curled around her hind paws.

Howlingwolf blinked and looked at Mistfall. Then a slight smile creeped over his face and he gave a little shrug.
"Then yes, probably," he replied. If he did have a friend in the Clan besides his siblings, he would have to say it would be Mistfall.

Mistfall purred. Good. she mewed flicking her tail. She rolled onto her back, her paws shaking in the air.
Want to do something? she asked.

Howlingwolf yawned and sighed.
"I think I've had enough exercise for one day. I need to start cleaning my fur or I'll be smelling like snow all night." He began grooming his tabby fur, drawing his tongue across his pelt. He tasted all of the places he had been that day and wrinkled his nose.

Yeah. Your right- she was cut off with a yawn. She smiled with a small laugh. She groomed some thorns out of her fur, and started licking a spot in between her shoulder blades that tasted like the Thunderpath, so it was difficult Toledo up her goal. She couldn't help but wonder, how that got there.
What do you want to talk about.

Howlingwolf glanced up at Mistfall sharply.
"Talking, hm?" he meowed in between licks. Then the top straightened up and looked at her coolly. "Well, is there something you wanted to talk about?" It would make sense, since she was the one with all the questions.
