[Snaketooth]

"Well..." Snaketooth pondered her question. "A log may work, since it's a lot heavier than cats" he said. He smoothed down his silver tabby pelt, then focused his amber eyes back on his leader. "It'll take quite a few cats to push a log big enough to break the ice" he added in.

"Perhaps Phantomshade, Cinderpaw, and I could try it out. If us three aren't enough to push a log, then we can try another cat or two" the Riverclanner suggested.

[Cinderpaw]

Cinderpaw padded out of the apprentice es den with a stretch and started grooming his fur

Cinderpaw looked around for his mentor "were could he be "he mumbled to himself

[Moonstar]

"Sounds good to me snaketooth, I'm glad to have such a smart warrior. I will help push the log also." She replied greatfully. "Should we do it now while the sun is out? We'll need to find phantomshade before we proceed though..."
" Oh hello cinderpaw! How are you?" She asked the apprentice who was clearly looking for something. "What are you looking for?"

[Phantomshade]

Phantomshade made his way into camp with his hunting patrol, carrying a trout in his jaws that filled his senses with the delicious flavor of fish. The deputy pricked his ears when he heard his leader's voice mention his name. His head swiveled as he searched out Moonstar, spotting her near the medicine den. Phantomshade padded toward the fresh-kill pile and deposited his prey. Then he turned to his patrol and dismissed them to eat and rest with a nod of his head. Stretching his sturdy limbs, Phantomshade made his way back towards Moonstar, his gait quick but calm.

"Moonstar," he called out in his deep, smooth voice, his ears pricking forward as he noticed Snaketooth standing beside Moonstar, as well.

[Moonstar]

" Oh hello phantomshade, We were just about to go looking for you." She said as he walked up to her. "We were thinking about breaking a part of the ice on the river to be able to reach more fish but I was waiting for your input. We were going to push a log on to the weakest point of ice to try to break through. What is your opinion? This could be dangerous." she asked her deputy. " Me, you, snaketooth and cinderpaw will be involved in this..." She looked into her deputy dark eyes questioningly.

[Phantomshade]

Phantomshade considered this option. It was true that the ice should be broken so that they would have access to more fish. The tom stared up into space as he thought about the best way to break the ice. It would indeed take something heavy... But the problem with using a log was that if it were too large it may get stuck and dam up the river, which may end badly for the Clan and the fish.

"Well, perhaps it would be wise to scout out the ice first and see which places could possibly be broken, and then we can assess the best methods for breaking those weak points," the deputy suggested.

[Moonstar]

"Who should we send?" She asked the two toms. "Or should it be one of us?" She sat down to think this over. "Whats your thought on this Phantomshade?" She watched as a stone colored moth flitted behind Snaketooth's ears. "We could pile pebbles on the ice until it broke, then the pebbles would roll harmlessly downstream. The apprentices could gather pebbles from the shore while we searched for the thinest area of ice!"

[Phantomshade]

Phantomshade shrugged his broad shoulders.

"It's hard to say what will be most effective until we have surveyed the river. If we can find ice weak enough we may not have to have too much preparation. But whatever we do, we must be cautious. The water is cold enough... it might drag a cat down under if someone falls in." Phantomshade narrowed his eyes, thinking of what the Clan could do to effectively break the ice.

"It might be a good idea to send someone to the Twoleg bridge. The ice can be weaker in that direction," he suggested.

[Moonstar]

"That sounds good, but won't the sounds of noisy twolegs scare any fish off?" She asked. She really didn't understand twolegs they were so loud and brought dogs into the territory. "Me, you, and snaketooth should spilt up and survey the river in different areas. That way we could find the thinest place and it won't take nearly as long. Are you and Snaketooth okay with this?" She said. Then stood up, ready to get things done. She was tired of sitting here chatting about what they were going to do while her clan starved. What ever they were going to do they needed to do it now.

[Phantomshade]

Phantomshade decided not to point out to his leader that Twolegs rarely came to the bridge in cold weather. And their noise had never much disturbed fish before, at least not in his experience. Regardless, they had to find out where the ideal locations would be for breaking the ice. He dipped his head to Moonstar, signifying that he would go along with her plan if Snaketooth was willing to do his part, as well.

[Cinderpaw]

Cinderpaw heard moonstars conversation and padded up to them "um moonstar do you thonk I could help scout the river "he mewed wanting to be of some use.hes ben stuck in camp all day he cleaned out all the dens he was dieting to go out into the marshes and stretch his legs

[Moonstar]

"Well if snaketooth, your mentor, is going maybe you could tag along with him." Moonstar said, hoping the young apprentice would gain some experience from this trip. She wanted her clan to have the sharpest minds in the forest.

Cinderpaw smiled with joy he gets to go out of camp and stretch his legs maby he can catch a vole or two for his clan "thanks moonstar I wont let you down and maby I can catch some pray"

"Wait just a second, Cinderpaw! You need to ask your mentor first before you go running off!" Moonstar pointed out to Cinderpaw. "We will call you to the front of the camp when it is time to go. Now run along and get yourself some freshkill!" She smiled and flicked her tail in the direction of the freshkill pile.
