"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Tallhill for a clan meeting" yowled Fallenstar loudly hoping to cacth the ears of everyone.
"Today we are gathered here to celebrate the becoming of an apprentice Applekit, Yellowkit, Riverkit will you come forward." meowed Fallenstar.
He cleared his throat as The three kits approached. "From this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be called Applepaw. Galelily you are ready for an apprentice I hope you pass down your great skills to Applepaw." said Fallenstar Proudly.
"From this day forward, until he/she had earned his/her warrior name, this apprentice will be called Yellowpaw. Smokefeather you are ready for an apprentice teach Yellowpaw well."

Smokefeather sat in the clearing watching the announcement, his ears pricked. He was always interested in new cats becoming apprentices. He remembered his own apprenticeship, and how exciting it had been. He had not known then what he would go through before he became a warrior. Smokefeather listened as Applepaw was given a mentor. He did not feel any disappointment for not having been chosen. Few kits would want him as a mentor, he was sure, and he tended to be overlooked for almost everything, so he was used to it by that point.

The black and white tom followed behind his clan mate, Smokefeather. His ears perked up with interest as he gathered among the rest of his clan. So, there was an apprentice ceremony, right? He sat down, wondering who the lucky cats were going to be to mentor the apprentices.
"Huh," he muttered, seeing as Galelily was called to be a mentor. "She finally got her first apprentice"

Smokefeather glanced at Cloudbelly and nodded.
"She must be really happy," he purred. He was glad that Galelily would get her first apprentice. It was always an exciting time for mentors, as well as apprentices. Or so it seemed. Smokefeather had never had an apprentice, so he wouldn't know from personal experience. But he could guess.

Cloudbelly's eyes widen with shock. So, he was getting an apprentice, too? He approached Riverpaw and touched their noses together. He didn't think he'd be one picked to be a mentor. He was completely excited!

Yellowpaw bounded up to Smokefeather, a little shy but excited at the same time. She pressed her nose to his. Nervous and exciting feelings bubbled inside of her. She wanted to do everything! "Can you teach me some fighting moves? Or maybe how to catch a rabbit?" she asked excitedly. She wanted to get started right away.

Smokefeather turned and stared at Fallenstar. Was he... was he serious? The tom stood and made his way to the front of the clearing, feeling dazed, like he was in a dream. He had never imagined having an apprentice of his own. His injury made him contemptible in a lot of cats' eyes. They saw him as weak and pitiful. But maybe this was his chance to prove himself, more than ever before. The tom glanced at Yellowpaw and then dipped his nose to touch hers, feeling excitement trilling through him.
"I'll teach you both of those things, after we have our first tour of the territory," Smokefeather meowed with a smile, pleased at the apprentice's enthusiasm. He just hoped he could keep up with her, with his injury and all.

Yellowpaw's excitement faded, but only just a little bit. Tour of the territory? That didn't sound as fun as learning to fight or how to chase after rabbits. But, she wouldn't be the one to complain. "Ok..." she muttered. "Can we go with Galelily and Applepaw?" she asked. Applepaw was one of her friends, so she wanted to go with her, too.

Smokefeather noticed that Yellowpaw seemed less than enthusiastic about the idea of touring the territory. He grinned a little.
"Sure, we can ask Galelily if that would be okay. And don't worry, we'll get to the exciting training soon enough. Maybe we can even go through some later today if you're not too tired."

Applepaw stood tall as her name was called. She purred loudly, and scurried over to Galelily, her blue eyes bright with excitement. She couldn't calm her fluffy orange fur from bristling with happiness. She reached up and touched noses with her new mentor, her tail sticking straight up. "I promise I'll be the best apprentice ever!" Her head turned when she heard Yellowpaw asking if they could train together. She tipped her head and glanced back at her mentor for permission.
