"Briarpaw, please step forward." Blackstar paused, his yellow gaze flashing approvingly over all his warriors. He had picked out the mentor for Briarpaw already and was excited to also hold ceremonies for the other kits soon. "You've already been made into an apprentice, but now you need a mentor." He twitched his tail as he spoke.
"Sageflower. You will mentor Briarpaw. I trust you'll teach her everything you know." Blackstar announced with a purr. "Not today, but soon we'll have more kits ready to be apprenticed. So more mentors will be needed in the near future." He dipped his head to his warriors. "I understand this is a harsh leafbare, but I couldn't be more thankful I have this clan to help pull through." Briarpaw bounced forward when Blackstar summoned her, her thin grey fur fluffed up in excitement. She glanced at the cats before her, wondering who would be chosen to be her new mentor. When Blackstar announced it would be Sageflower, Briarpaw felt a trill of excitement. She liked Sageflower, and thought that she would be a really good mentor. Briarpaw craned her neck and tried to spot the she-cat in the crowd.

Sageflower's eyes widen with surprise, but also with happiness. Her first apprentice! She purred and went to go meet her new apprentice. This was going to be great! She was going to get to train this young cat everything she knew.
"I'm honored, Blackstar. Thank you" she said smiling, not taking her eyes off of Briarpaw. She leaned over and touched her nose to the young apprentice's nose.

Briarpaw bounced up to Sageflower, a huge smile stretched across her face. She reached up and touched noses with her new mentor, her tail flicking back and forth with excitement. She couldn't wait to start training again! It would be nice to not have to tag along with any cat who had something for her to do. Having a mentor was way better.

The calico she-cat nodded her head to her new apprentice. "I suppose we can go around the territory" she said. She wondered if she was more excited than the young apprentice to go and explore Thunderclan land. "And, if it isn't too late, I can show you basic hunting skills"

Briarpaw blinked.
"Um, okay. I have been around the territory before though," she said with a slight smile. She wouldn't mind walking about the territory again, but it would be more fun probably to just go into training.

Howlingwolf blinked and moved forward slowly, his eyes narrowed. Why would he be chosen as a mentor? It made little sense to him. His brother probably would have been a better choice, despite his anxiety issues. But Howlingwolf decided it was no use arguing. He didn't care one way or the other. The tom glanced down at Smokepaw with a thoughtful look on his face.

Badertooth sat listening looking up at his leader as he was assigning the apprentices new mentors, he was glowing with pride. He couldn't wait for his first apprentice to train him/her every battle move and every hunting technique they will need to know in order to defend and feed themselves, but more importantly the clan. Clan before self is what Badertooth was taught and that's all he knew. The warrior code, its what his morals and his whole life was based upon, and he was ready to share what he knew with an apprentice. Twitching his ear with eagerness he swished his tail back and forth and began to lick the fur down on his chest. He could feel a chilling breeze sweep through him, chilling his very bones. Tensing his massive muscles he took a deep breath, feeling his lungs take in the icy cold air, he waited until the breeze died done, he settled down and sat listening to the ceremony in happiness.

Smokepaw bounded forward and tripped over her paws and almost went head over heels as she made her way up to her leader she bowed to him and then looked at her mentor "Hello Howlingwolf I am glad you are my mentor!" She said politely then looked down at her paws and waited.

Howlingwolf looked at Smokepaw skeptically and then touched noses with his apprentice, as was custom.
"Sure, kit," he meowed, looking at Smokepaw and wondering what in the name of StarClan he was supposed to do with her. After all, he'd never had an apprentice before. Had never really thought about having an apprentice. His own apprenticeship was... something of a distant memory. Well, this is going to be interesting, the tom thought weakly, knowing he was in for quite the... adventure.

Sageflower dipped her head to Howlingwolf. "Congratulations" she purred. Her attention focused back over to Briarpaw. "Well then. I suppose you've already been around the territory before...so, let's go work on hunting, ok?" the calico tried not to show that she was embarrassed that she forgot that her apprentice had been outside of camp before.

Briarpaw smiled at Sageflower.
"That'd be great. But I warn you, my skills in hunting are already legendary!" The she-cat let out a mrrrow of laughter and bounced on her paws, excited to once again be officially back on track in her training.

Smokepaw looked up at her mentor happily "So what are we going to do first Howlingwolf?" She bounced around then she realised what she was doing and sat still waiting apprehensively

Howlingwolf watched Smokepaw bounce with a dry expression on his face. Great StarClan, did Blackstar really expect him to put up with this nonsense? He sighed. However tempted he was to tell the apprentice that he didn't care what they did, he figured he had to take some responsibility. Even if he didn't want to.
"I suppose a tour of the territory is in order," Howlingwolf meowed dryly. He really did not want to go traipsing about the territory on a cold day like this, but it seemed that he had little choice in the matter.
