Cool air met Phantomshade as he crept out of the warrior's den and into the clearing. He surveyed RiverClan's camp with his cold, green eyes, his expression thoughtful. The sun had not yet risen, and the bite in the wind seemed to claw at Phantomshade's throat, making it hard to breathe. He sighed, and a faint haze billowed from his mouth. Leafbare would be coming soon, he had no doubt. RiverClan's deputy shrugged his shoulders to stretch his muscles. He stepped further out into the clearing, feeling the stiffness in his joints that came with colder weather. He soon had it worked out, though. Phantomshade glanced over at the leader's den, wondering if Moonstar was up yet. The tom looked around camp, thinking about the patrols of the day and who he would assign to each. I hope cats start waking up, or else I'll have to go tromping through their dens like an ornery badger after them, Phantomshade thought with a loud yawn. He exhaled sharply and then padded to the center of the camp, where the fresh-kill pile was. It looked pretty low, and he thought it would be best to send out a hunting patrol as soon as possible. The dawn patrol had already been assigned, and it was only a matter of making sure the cats got up and out in a timely fashion. [/font]

Cinderpaw padded out of the apprentices den unusually early

The reeds around the Warrior's Den wavered as Timberwing emerged from within. Her long russet red fur waved in the biting wind, however the thickness and length kept her warm from the sharpest chill at the moment. Her forest green eyes glanced around the camp she had been apart of for a couple of seasons, still unsure of her position as a Riverclan warrior when her scent still had the lingering smell of Shadowclan. Her long tail flickered behind her as she padded farther into the camp, glancing up at the lightening sky overhead.

Glancing about the camp, Phantomshade noticed Timberwing emerging from the warrior's den. The deputy narrowed his eyes. The she-cat had joined RiverClan after being raised in ShadowClan her whole life. He was not completely aware of the circumstances of her decision, except that she had never felt comfortable in her blood Clan and it had something to do with one of her parents. It was apparent to him that she felt uneasy. Why wouldn't she? RiverClan may have taken her in, but they hardly accepted her as she might have liked. Phantomshade let out a low sigh. He supposed she was loyal enough to the warrior code, and if she had made the decision to join RiverClan he ought to give her the opportunity to prove herself.
Phantomshade called out, "Timberwing!" and waited for her to join him near the leader's den, where he would organize patrols for the day.

Rainwhisper emerged from the warrior's den just after Timberwing. She glanced at the russet-furred she-cat with an open expression. If she were honest with herself, she did not care where the she-cat came from. Rainwhisper was less than enthusiastic about the warrior code at times, and she believed that what mattered was RiverClan, and RiverClan alone. If Timberwing wanted to help to support RiverClan, then she was good in Rainwhisper's estimation. Rainwhisper padded over to Phantomshade to receive her assignment for the day, wondering if she would be patrolling or hunting. She sort of hoped the former, since prey was scarce and coming back to camp empty-pawed was not very reassuring of her skills as a warrior.

The long furred shecat glanced up, her ears pricked as she looked at her deputy. Timberwing trotted over quickly towards Phantomshade, her forest green eyes brighted as she neared him. "Yes?" She asked in a respectful tone, she was determined to be loyal to her adopted clan, and helping the Deputy was what any clan loyal cat would do. Her bushy tail wrapped around her paws as she sat down and dipped her head.

Phantomshade waited for Timberwing to approach. He saw Rainwhisper come over from the warrior's den, as well, and nodded to her. He turned back to Timberwing and said,
"I want you to take Rainwhisper and two other warriors for a border patrol at sunhigh," he said with a serious expression on his face. It was a big responsibility to lead a patrol, and an honor in a way. He hoped that Timberwing would understand that this task was in effect a way to show her Clanmates that she was a part of RiverClan.

Moonstar quitely woke up and decided to go sit on the high stones so that she could bask in the sun and watch her clan until she was needed somewhere. She saw the deputy organizing patrols with a few of her clan mates. All was well today and hopefully it would stay this peaceful throughout the day. There will never be a better place than riverclan. With our glossy pelts and sturdy limbs we hunt the fish and swim in the river while all other clans are afraid to. She thought to herself. She glanced over her shoulder and saw one of her cats approaching her."Yes?" moonstar asked.

Timberwing's forest green eyes brightened from their normal weight burdened gaze, her long fur bristled slightly before relaxing, "Yes sir, where would you like us to go?" Her meow was steady and slightly upbeat as if the deputy had brightened her dim world. She was pleased and honnored that she got to lead a patrol of fully-bred Riverclan cats.

Phantomshade smiled slightly at the question.
"Just around the border, as usual," he meowed, amusement lighting his eyes. Where did the she-cat imagine she would be patrolling? It was a border patrol. RiverClan was fortunate enough to have the river as a border, but that didn't mean that they were safe. Sometimes WindClan cats especially tried to steal fish from the river. It was important to keep up patrols.

Timberwing's ears flattened slightly, realizing how silly the question sounded. Her russet red fur floated around her as a gentle breeze ran through the camp, flooding the island with the strong, fishy scent of the river. Her forest green eyes turned to Rainwhisper as meowed a simple question respectfully. "Who else would you like to take along on the patorl?" Her ears flicked every so slightly.

Rainwhisper smiled slightly at Timberwing's nervousness. She didn't mean the cat any ill will, though, so she smoothed her expression out before the cat turned to address her.
"Anyone is fine with me," she replied evenly. "It's your decision, as patrol leader."

The fox colored shecat flicked her bushy tail as she gazed around the clearing with her evergreen eyes. She stood up and shook out her thick, long fur before replying to Rainwhisper. "Lets take Thrushpelt... and Hollyspalsh." Timberwing meowed, her scratchy voice sounded slighly pleased with herself that she could pick out the cat's scents so easily.

A slight smile formed on the edge of Rainwhisper's mouth.
"Ah, the lovebirds, eh?" she purred. Lifting her tail lazily, the she-cat inclined her head towards the den, where Thrushpelt and Hollysplash were probably still asleep.
"Lead the way, Timberwing."

Timberwing's ears flicked in slight amusement at Rainwhisper's reaction. The long furred shecat had noticed the diffrence in the way Thrushpelt and Hollysplash were acting around each other. With a quick flick of her bushy tail, the fox colored shecat trotted towards the warm warriors den, where the sounds of lazy snoozing and soft snores emerged to meet her as she poked her head inside. Thick, fishy scent of the full Riverclan cats batted at her nose as she picked out the two cats she was looking for. "Thrustpelt, Hollysplash." Timberwing's mew was quick and slightly scruffy as she called to the sleep couple.
