The weather outside was completely unpleasurable. It was cold, windy, and the freezing air pushed through Sageflower's fur like it was nothing. It was cold, and she wanted leaf bare to be over with already!
She returned from her hunting patrol. The patrol didn't really find much. In leaf bare, it was nearly impossible to find anything that wasn't burrowed in it's nest or shelter. All she managed to find was a scrawny black bird, and it would barely be enough to feed one of the elders. This leaf bare was horrible, but she managed to do what she could. It was well worth it for her clan.
Sageflower dropped her catch in the pitiful pile. All she saw were two mice, to black birds, and a gaunty squirrel. This would in no way feed the clan. Sighing, she padded away from the pile. Her stomach told her she'd regret it with a growl.
'No... I can't. The elders, queens, and kits must eat first' she thought, forcing herself to deny the little food right behind her.

A sleek black tom sat in the entrance of his den. His ears were flattened as an icy wind hit him face first. He shook his pelt, and stood up, forcing himself to step completely outside and greet Sageflower. "Great weather, right?" Blackstar commented with a purr of sarcasm.
This weather was ridiculous. The trees helped some, to shelter the wind. The young leader felt like newleaf would never come. Stretching, the massive tom sat down and rasped a tongue across his chest. His yellow gaze raked across the fresh-kill pile, acknowledging her catch with a nod, but not surprised that his clan had caught nothing else.
"I don't even blame the prey for hiding. No one wants to be out in the cold." he added him, bracing himself for another gust of wind blowing through the camp.

Sageflower dipped her head in greeting to her leader. Her eyes lit up in amusment as his voice dripped in sarcasm about the weather. "Oh, yeah! It's gorgeous weather. If it were up to me, I'd never want to see the sun again!" she laughed a little, then she sighed. She managed to take another hungry glance at the fresh kill pile.
"I hope Starclan sends us good hunting soon. At this rate, the clan will starve" she said back, giving her own calico fur a few quick licks to smooth it out. The wind still managed to mess it up all over again. Why bother?
"There wasn't much when we went out. I considered ourselves lucky that I spotted that black bird. It almost got away, too!"

"Well good job on getting it." Blackstar mewed, turning his yellow gaze to the forest entrance. He had been out hunting earlier and only found a small mouse which had already been claimed. "I guess every leafbare is the same though. It feels like it drags forever but hopefully before we know it it'll be over."
He tilted his head, unable to stop shivering. The leader's fur was thick, but not enough to block out the cold. "I wish there wasn't so much snow or else we could help put more moss in all of the dens."

Sageflower's eyes lit up with pride and happiness at his praise. "I'm so ready to feel the sun again. If this weather keeps going the way it is, I'm going to turn into ice!" she joked, shivering a little bit as the wind bit underneath her calico fur which now looked completely messed up and ruffled. No point in trying to smooth it out again.
"That would be nice" she said to Blackstar's moss remark. "The elders never fail to remind everyone how cold and wet their bedding is! Not to mention, I'm sure no cat in the clan enjoys is very much. I certainly don't!"

"We can always keep building onto the dens, and make sure no breeze can get through." Blackstar tilted his head while in thought, his yellow eyes flashing with slight irritation. Leafbare was annoying, plain and simple. It made no cat want to move from there dens, let alone go and hunt for the clan. Plus with the shortness of prey why would they want to freeze and sometimes end up with no kill anyways. Of course the clan always came first, and he'd fight til death if he had too, it was just a struggle.
"I should probably go back hunting in a while. See if I can find anything near the ShadowClan border and check the scents. Patrols haven't been that way in a bit." the huge black tom added.

Sagewhisker nodded. "That sounds like a good idea. Hopefully we can find something to block off the wind until this weather warms up" she said, shaking the snow that was starting to cover her paw. By now, her paw pads were numb from the cold, and the calico she-cat couldn't feel a thing.
Her ears perked up when he mentioned hunting. Although she had already been out for hunting, she didn't want to be stuck in camp in this cold weather. She was the kind of cat who liked getting out and getting after things.
"Would you mind if I came with?" she asked. "I've got nothing else to do for the rest of the day, and the more cats hunting the better the chance of bringing something back" she added, hoping Blackstar wouldn't mind the company.

Badgertooth was padding into camp from his hunting patrol, he was a massive warrior with a thick coat of fur but he still shivered as the icy-wind nipped at him. He had detecting nothing therefore he came back empty pawed though still determined return hunting later. He saw his leader and one of the warriors engaged in conversation so headed to join them. His massive paws had no feeling he almost felt like they weren't even there,"I can see why our prey slumbers in leafbare." he huffed as he took his seat a few tail lengths from Blackstar and the warrior Sageflower. Before her leader could reply to her offer to accompany him, Sageflower noticed the clan's deputy, Badgertooth, approaching them. "Hello, Badgertooth" she purred, dipping her head to him in greeting. "I see why, too! If I were a mouse, I'd be sleeping away warm and safe" the she-cat sighed. She never liked leafbare much, and wished for warmer weather to come.
"Blackstar and I were just discussing this weather, actually. And how there's hardly any prey to catch" she murmured sullenly. This was the hardest season for the whole clan. Actually, it was the hardest season for all of the clans in the forest. Freezing weather and pitiful prey.

" Ah, well Starclan is watching over us, we will be fine." he purred to Sageflower. He opened his massive jaws and let a yawn escape his mouth, he was very tired but could only settle for a moments rest he was determined to return with at least a squirrel. He looked over to Blackstar waiting for him to reply to the previous question Sageflower had asked as he approached. Attachments:

"Of course you can come," Blackstar mewed to Sageflower, his whisker's quivering as he ignored the wind blowing across the camp. Looking over, he noticed his deputy Badgertooth approaching. There was no prey in his jaws, but the young leader couldn't hold it against him. It was a struggle hunting in leaf bare, especially with weather like this.
"Yes, we will be fine." Blackstar purred, rasping a tongue over his chest to let his fur lay down. "You can take a break if you'd like Badgertooth. Me and Sageflower are going hunting soon and you're welcome to join though." He got to his paws and stretched his cold, stiff muscles. He wouldn't let ThunderClan starve. And he was happy he had a bunch of loyal warriors that would fight with him through anything to survive.

Sageflower's eyes lit up joyfully. She loved getting out of camp. It gave her a sense of duty, or like she wasn't being lazy. She looked over to Badgertooth. "Well, when shall we leave?" she asked, rising to her paws and blinked green eyes at both of them. Hopefully they'd actually find something worth bringing back. Hopefully.

Badgertooth immediately got up he had rested enough he was ready to redeem himself for coming back empty pawed. "Lets hope some of the less intelligent prey is out and a bout." he purred to his two companions,as he started stretching his massive muscle's rippling under his glossy pelt. "As well as no intruders." he growled just the thought made him un sheath his claws, he didn't have a problem with making some rival clan warriors look like kits but he couldn't afford the energy loss and neither could his clan mates. They needed every ounce of strength to hunt for the clan and patrol they're borders as well. He started running his rough tongue across his chest feeling his soft fur run across his tongue grooming himself wasnt somthing he did in the presence of others especially not in front of the leader but he was to busy serving his clan to worry about grooming he felt rather surprised he was even remembering to do so.
