Fairlight turned to Amberstar, biting down a feeling of resentment towards Dustcloud for making her look incapable to their leader. But it wasn't her fault the cat was as prickly as a pinecone. At least his brother had some sense! Fairlight flicked her tail and fought down her irritation long enough to nod slightly to her leader, showing that she was all in agreement. Not that her sentiments were exactly in question.

Dustcloud glared at both of them, then sighed. "Fine" he growled. "I'll go on the night patrol" he was clearly unhappy about it. He looked at Fairlight for a moment, then looked away. He didn't like going on patrols with her. He didn't like being around her. For the simple reason that he had feelings for her, but she'd never feel the same.

Fairlight glanced at Dustcloud and then at Amberstar, her expression uninterested at best. Why did he have to make such a fuss in the first place if he was going to agree in the end? Fairlight thought grumpily. She glanced at Wolfpelt and wondered what he thought of his brother's behavior.

Wolfpelt stared at his brother. He didn't know why Dustcloud was always so grumpy and in a bad mood. Other cats tried to be his friend and the family that raised him always treated him kindly. He sighed, and decided to let the issue go and not say anything.
"Well, I guess that's it then. Are we the only three going?" he asked, slowly detaching his eyes from his fit fussing brother and back to Fairlight and Amberstar.

Fairlight glanced at Amberstar and then back at Wolfpelt.
"Yes," she meowed. "Our thick pelts will keep us warmer, so we may be able to catch something before we freeze to death." She twitched her whiskers. Her dry humor was not exactly every cat's piece of fresh-kill, but she amused herself enough to not really care.
